EarMetrics®
Transforming patient-centred, connected care
with the new standard of medical monitoring.
Turning in-ear devices into racially inclusive medical monitors
Introducing EarMetrics®, a suite of licensable, in-ear biometrics hardware and technology that will provide the new global standard of medical monitoring.
How? By opening up a range of transformative use cases – from empowering racially inclusive oximetry, to informing machine learning with patient- and population-level health insights.
Seamlessly integrated into medical devices, wearables, and hearing aids, our EarMetrics® hardware aims to record real-world, medical-grade data from a central site, where everyone’s skin is the same colour.
When paired with our EarMetrics® technologies, this data will inform clinical decisions, improve healthcare outcomes, and accelerate the development of new treatments.
Together, creating patient-centred, connected care – through the game-changing power of the ear.

Real-world, real-time health data
Our EarMetrics® hardware aims to gather medical-grade, multi-biometric insights from the inner ear canal – from oxygen to heart rate and blood pressure indicators (PTT) – and provide more reliable measurements than some current finger, wrist, and arm monitors. By generating real-time, real-world evidence in a synchronous, interoperable format, EarMetrics® could empower more equitable patient care and life-changing health innovation.
Created in collaboration with experts
EarSwitch™ was founded by former UK NHS doctor, Dr Nick Gompertz. The technology, that was originally developed with National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to help people communicate, has progressed into the impactful space of health and wellbeing monitoring as EarMetrics®, with further UKRI UK Government grants support.
Potential use cases for EarMetrics® technology
Become a first mover in racially equitable pulse oximetry
Download our brochure to find out how partnering with us to develop EarMetrics®-Oximetry could help you accelerate your path to differentiation, with an in-ear device that we believe takes robust, racially inclusive oxygen readings.
Wearable health
EarMetrics® data can contribute directly to digital health records, enhance remote patient monitoring, and support Hospital at Home services. As such, you could help to improve healthcare outcomes by integrating EarMetrics® into wearables and hearing aids.
This could be particularly important for people with chronic conditions, but also for those at risk of digital exclusion. We want to ensure that a lack of access to online services doesn’t equate to poorer health outcomes.
EarMetrics® for hearing aid manufacturers
Gain insights into the transformative potential of EarMetrics® technology, understand how it can enhance hearing aid devices, and explore opportunities to create better patient outcomes.
Biometric data
Diet and wellness trends indicate that people are more health-conscious than ever before. With EarMetrics®, you could empower your patients or users with better insight into their digital biomarkers, and therefore their personal health.
By integrating EarMetrics® into earphones or other monitoring sensors, you could also help to improve their healthcare outcomes. For instance, reliable access to patient and consumers’ digital biomarkers could enable the quick identification of declining health and the early actioning of preventative care.
A new era of clinical treatment
An enhanced understanding of health at both an individual and population level relies on credible data – particularly with the move towards AI and machine learning. We hope to support this by recording data that is racially inclusive, contextualised to movement, and ready to use across applications from our secure cloud product.
In GP consulting rooms and A&E triage, practitioners would be assured of the speed, reliability, and historical context of data from EarMetrics® devices, supported by EarMetrics® Cloud insights. Racially inclusive blood oxygen readings and data that aims to be medical grade could change the way that healthcare providers work.
